Lamine Yamal Wins 2024 Golden Boy Award

FC Barcelona’s young star, Lamine Yamal who’s just 17, has been awarded the Golden Boy award for 2024 on December 16.

This award is given to the best under-21 player in Europe and Yamal is the youngest and latest in a line of FC Barcelona talents to receive it, joining the ranks of Lionel Messi, Pedri, and Gavi.

Despite an ankle injury back in November, which kept him out for a while, his early season and the EURO 2024 displays were enough to secure the award.

He was also recognized earlier this year with the Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or event, further highlighting his status as one of the best young players in the world.

Yamal is the fifth Spanish player to win the Golden Boy, joining a list that includes Cesc Fàbregas and Isco.

This win not only cements Yamal’s reputation as a rising star but also reinforces Barca’s reputation for developing top-tier young talents in La Masia.

For the notes, at the moment writing this (Dec 17, 2024) Lamine Yamal will be out for three weeks due to an ankle injury sustained in their last match against Leganés where Blaugrana lost 1-0 at home.
